Stellenbosch Winelands Elopement

Where to even start with this beautiful love story…

Constance-Marie (the bride) is one of my closest friends’ sister — these people are the real deal. They love Jesus, actually shows His love to everyone around them and they literally just shine with joy and peace. So when Constance-Marie asked me to photograph her & Francois’s special day I was over the moon!

At first they were going to have a beautifully intimate wedding at their home in Stellenbosch on a Sunday afternoon, but Covid put a halt to those plans and they decided to just elope — the two of them, their pastor and me!

What an honour to be the one capturing the memories for all their family sitting locked up at home, waiting for videos and photos to celebrate with them! Constance-Marie & Francois sent cake to all of their guests and asked them to celebrate on the day even in their absence.

Her dad decorated his old buggy and Francois’s front yard beautifully for their “giving away” ceremony, such a beautiful moment — and off they were balloons and all (which flew off about 5mins in!) to sign the papers at the church office.

We chased the sunset and settled on a grassy sidewalk to pop champagne, eat cake and take in this incredibly special moment in time.

I love how spontaneous, joyful & holy this day felt. And I hope you can experience this too as you go through these images.
